How To Use nslookup.exe

How to Use nslookup to Check Domain Name Information in Microsoft Windows

If you wish to know what the IP address is resolved from domain name, you can use nslookup command to find out. This command is useful to check whether the DNS servers set in Microsoft Windows work well. If DNS doesn’t work well, the webpage will not be displayed on your browser since the domain names will not be translated into IP addresses.

How to Use Nslookup to Verify DNS Configuration

For Exchange Server to send Internet mail, the DNS servers that Exchange Server uses for your domain must be able to resolve external domain names. To verify that your DNS servers can resolve external domain names, use the Nslookup tool (Nslookup.exe) if you are running Exchange 2003 on Windows 2000 servers.

Configure SNMP on a Cisco router or switch

Configure SNMP on a Cisco router or switch

The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a necessary tool for every network administrator. You can easily configure it with just a few commands.

SNMP is still the most popular way to monitor the performance of network devices, including Cisco routers and switches. With an SNMP management station, you can graph the performance of network devices. In addition, Cisco devices can send alerts (called traps) to the management station, which you can configure to alert you.

IP subnetting made easy

Forums:

IP subnetting is a fundamental subject that's critical for any IP network engineer to understand, yet students have traditionally had a difficult time grasping it. Over the years, I've watched students needlessly struggle through school and in practice when dealing with subnetting because it was never explained to them in an easy-to-understand way. I've helped countless individuals learn what subnetting is all about using my own graphical approach and calculator shortcuts, and I've put all that experience into this article.

IP subnet calculator

Forums:

The IP Subnet Mask Calculator enables subnet network calculations using network class, IP address, subnet mask, subnet bits, mask bits, maximum required IP subnets and maximum required hosts per subnet.

Results of the subnet calculation provide the hexadecimal IP address, the wildcard mask, for use with ACL (Access Control Lists), subnet ID, broadcast address, the subnet address range for the resulting subnet network and a subnet bitmap.
